Glitter, glitter - everywhere!!

We took the day off and went to my dad's in the country today for some outdoor fun.  The weather was just beautiful.  Really, I could live with that kind of weather all year long!  Anyway, usually when we visit my dad, my seven year old son loves to go for a ride on the riding lawn mower - fun, right?

But my dad called in a favor and asked a buddy of his to bring over a 4-wheeler for us to play with.  It is actually the 4-wheeler he bought from my dad a few years ago.  We even broke out the tractor and riding lawn mower.  Hey, we're city folk and we'll ride whatever we can get away with.  We would have loved to ride the horses just down the road, but since the owner was home (and I don't know him!), he probably wouldn't have appreciated it!

We also saw some llamas!  "Where are the llama photos?" you ask?  Well, I left the CF card at home.  A little hint - the camera won't STORE photos without the storage card!!

I know my dad was happy to see the kids having so much fun, but he was probably a nervous wreck by the time we left.  He was worried one of them would get hurt.  But, all was good!

Here are a few more photos of the eggs I glittered the other day.  I opted to paint the papier mache eggs and glitter them rather than making sugar eggs this year.  Those are so fun to do, but I wanted to be able to keep these year after year.

Then, as my glitter-fever progressed, I fancied up these little wooden bird houses as well.  They are about 4 inches tall and were so easy to do.  I hope I can find more where these came from.  They would be perfect for just about any time of the year!

I just LOVE them and they fit so perfectly in my kitchen.  But, I've decided to give these to two lovely ladies this weekend! More on that tomorrow...

See you then,

I'm a busy, busy bunny!

I've been busy working on the little baskets for Miss Rhea's Easter Basket Swap... and "ta-da"!  They are complete and ready to be shipped!  I had so much fun making these.  The possibilities are endless so I had to just dive in or I would still be in the planning stages!  But, I am happy with the way they came out and hope my swap partners will enjoy them.  I can't wait to see what they send  my way!  I will post pictures after these sweet ladies have received their baskets - so stay tuned!  You can also see some sneak peaks at the Flickr group.  Wow, there are some gorgeous little creations there!

In the meantime, guess who came to visit early?  Yup, Peter Cotton Tail.  He's just hanging out with us, resting over Spring Break, getting ready for the "show".  He has a lot to coordinate, you know.  I thought I saw him texting earlier.  Probably reminders to his assistant, last minute details, etc.  Anyway, I'm glad he's here!

Miss Rhea inspired me so much with her beautiful glittered eggs that I just had to make a few myself.  You know how much I love glitter - I coulda glittered all night!  I'll show more of these in the next post with some other little goodies I had fun glitzing!  The cool faux mossy rocks came from BFF (she's clever, that one) and the "grass" from Lisa.  Don't you just love my pretty platter?  Yeah, Target.  Love that place.

Have a wonderful Spring Break and stay sparkly!

To shed a little light on the subject...

I just wasn't into paying $500 for a chandelier I found on the internet that "is just perfect for my dining area"!!  So I thought I would try to save a few dollars (because I have NO luck in finding awesome things at garage and estate sales - everrrr) and just transform a  new chandelier into an "old" chandelier.  Well, I guess it worked.  Kind of.  Ish.

I found this chandelier at IKEA for about $48.00.  It was a brushed chrome, but had lots and lots of crystals and pendants.  I thought, "Eh, I'll just take those shiny things off, paint it and slap 'em back on - good to go."  I've done my fair share of spray painting, but this wasn't going well!  I even primed it.  I think it was too cold outside and it just didn't look good.  I gave up and threw it in the garage mumbling something about paying more and calling it good.

A week passed and I changed my mind.  Its just paint, right?  Better weather and determination!  And, those little baubles went back on so easy.  Yee haw!  Just in time for my baby's 4th birthday Pinkalicious Tea Party... more on that soon!

Now, I just need to figure out a way to add some cool metal flowers or something!  Let there be light!

To glitter or not to glitter? That is.....

a dumb question!  Of course glitter!  I get in a mood to glitter and look out.  If it isn't moving, I might glitter it!  Not that I need an excuse to glitter, but the holidays make it so easy, even Halloween.  And check out my glitter collection!  I know you're jealous, its okay!

Last year I found these great wooden pincones and went nuts (uh heh - pun intended) with Martha's glitter.  Her glitter is super-fine and comes in the best colors.  Incidentally - when I went to her sight to grab the link, guess what?  Yup, a big, new header that said, "All that glitters!"  I'm fer real!

Anyway, I love to create, so what better than this to remind me?

So getting back to Halloween.... I found this cute little papier mache house and instead of going with a Christmas theme, I decided on a fun haunted house.  A little craft paint, some foam pieces for shingles, and of course lots of glitter and "ta-da!"  Not too spooky, just fun.  It is in the living room shimmering right now.

While browsing Joann's, I came across this great wooden candelabra.  My son helped me paint it and then we commenced to glittering!  I even added a spider from last year's glittering extravaganza.  Sorry about the pour photography on this one.
I hope this encourages you to go forth and glitter!  I'm headed for the vacuum cleaner now.  The cat is starting to sparkle!
